Castello di Perno

Castello di Perno

Monforte d’Alba – Cuneo

Perno castle in Monforte d’Alba, in the province of Cuneo, is an ancient building of the beginning of the 16th century, designed on the ruins of the original medieval castle, then refurbished between 1976 and 1982. As you enter the castle you are totally immersed in art at 360° as you encounter numerous contemporary art pieces, carpets, ancient furniture and over 7000 volumes from the prestigious Einaudi library. The castle in fact was owned until 1995 by Giulio Einaudi, the famous Italian publisher, who later sold it at an auction. From 2012, after a further careful refurbishment, the castle has been brought back to it’s glory to guarantee a unique lifetime experience to its guests.

...”Perno..a medieval hamlet. On the top, a castle in ruins initially rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century, refurbished a second time at the beginning of the 18th century. Among others, there lived the treasurer of the Italian king Vittorio Emanuele II, that took care of the King’s goods, especially he helped manage Rosin, the kings Sicilian wife...” ...”In the seventies...since at about an hour car-ride from Turin, they convinced me to buy the property and turn it into the publishing house headquarters. In this place, that I think can be considered heaven on earth, there used to occur the most rewarding meetings, that lasted two or three days...Giulio Einaudi
